Good stuff! This is gonna be fun.
These backgrounds are looking great, man. The snail's getting a little lost in that shot, but that's easily corrected. Not too easily, but since you'll be doing it and not me, it's going to seem really easy.
I think this is the first time to your blog and I'm very impressed. The bg's look super. That shot with the full moon is such a great scene. I can't wait to see more.
